How to Prep Your Skin & Brows for Summer: Your May Beauty Checklist
May is the month where we officially stop pretending it’s still spring and fully lean into the glow-up that is summer mode. The layers are coming off, the patios are calling, and your skin and brows deserve a little prep before the heat hits full throttle.
Here’s your Sunday checklist to get ahead of the season—with minimal effort and maximum impact.
1. Exfoliate the Right Way
You want that lit-from-within summer glow, not tight, flaky skin under SPF. Gently exfoliate 1–2x a week to remove dead skin cells and help your skincare products absorb better. Avoid harsh scrubs—opt for an AHA or enzyme-based exfoliator, especially if you're getting brow services.
Pro tip: Don’t exfoliate 24–48 hours before a brow wax, tint, or lamination. We want fresh—not irritated—skin.
2. Book Your Brow & Lash Appointments Early
Summer is busy. Weddings, brunches, weekend getaways. Secure your spot before the rush starts. May is the sweet spot to shape, laminate, or tint your brows and lift those lashes so you can wake up ready—no mascara or brow pencils needed.
Bonus: These low-maintenance services are sweat-proof, pool-proof, and made for your “no makeup” makeup look.
3. Switch to Lightweight, Hydrating Skincare
Ditch the heavy creams—summer skin thrives with gel-based moisturizers, hydrating serums, and calming mists. Look for ingredients like hyaluronic acid, niacinamide, and aloe vera to keep your skin dewy, not greasy.
4. Sunscreen. Every. Single. Day.
We know, we know—you’ve heard it before. But SPF is your skin's BFF in summer. Choose a broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher and reapply every two hours if you're outdoors. Your future self (and your brows) will thank you.
Important: Post-wax or lamination? Keep freshly treated skin out of the sun for at least 24 hours to avoid irritation.
5. Tint, Don’t Sweat It
If your makeup tends to melt by noon, consider getting your lashes and brows tinted. It’s a game changer—especially if you’re traveling, hitting the beach, or just want that effortless “put-together” look without touching a product.
6. Hydrate from the Inside Out
Glowing skin and healthy brows start with what’s happening on the inside. Drinking plenty of water, eating hydrating fruits like watermelon and cucumber, and getting quality sleep all play a role in how refreshed and radiant you look. Hydration helps flush out toxins, supports skin elasticity, and even boosts brow and lash health. It’s a simple routine with powerful results—your skin, brows, and energy levels will thank you.
