The Lessons She Left Us With: Celebrating the Women Who Raised Us
There’s something indescribably special about the way mothers—and the mother figures in our lives—shape who we are. Whether it’s through words of wisdom, quiet strength, or the way they lead by example, moms teach us the kind of lessons that stay with us forever. They’re our first beauty icons, our biggest cheerleaders, and the ones who somehow always just know when we need them most.
As we celebrate Mother's Day, we’re reflecting on the powerful, often unspoken ways these women inspire us—not only to care for others, but to care for ourselves. They teach us about patience, about boundaries, about how to bounce back when life doesn’t go as planned. Most of all, they show us that love, in all its forms, is the greatest teacher of all!
We asked the girls at Motherpluckers to share the most important lessons they’ve learned from their moms—and the answers were as beautiful as they were different:
- Vanessa’s mom taught her that fashion is meant to be fun—never shy away from bold colours when curating a standout look.
- Jessie’s mom always reminded her to hold onto the sparkle that makes her one of a kind.
- Stef’s mom encouraged her to be unapologetically herself—those who get it, get it, and those who don’t, don’t.
- May’s mom inspired her to be a strong, independent woman who takes charge and gets things done on her own terms.
- Ros’ mom instilled in her the importance of never showing up empty-handed and always making room for others in both heart and home.

Our favourite finds for Mom!
Their stories are just a glimpse into the incredible wisdom passed down from generation to generation. And while the words may differ, the impact is universal: the women who raise us leave a permanent mark on our hearts. They show us that beauty is about more than what we see—it's in how we show up for ourselves and each other.
So here’s to the moms, stepmoms, grandmas, aunties, big sisters, and chosen mother figures who continue to guide us, even when they’re not physically near. You’ve taught us more than you’ll ever know.
Happy Mother’s Day 💐
