What Inspired the Sunday Edit

If you type the words “Self Care Sunday” into the search bar of any social media platform, a pretty standard assortment of content will appear: a mountain of bubbles in a clawfoot tub, strong hands massaging oiled and perfectly muscled backs, maybe a sheet mask or two. These images appear for a reason, seeing as “Self Care Sunday” has become basically interchangeable with extravagant spas and exorbitant treatments. But in the process of so strictly defining what self care means and what it looks like, it limits the opportunity for genuine relaxation. How can you unwind if you’re being told you’re doing it wrong?

Instead of telling you ways to fit into this small self care mold, The Sunday Edit wants to reframe it altogether. Rather than prioritizing time-consuming, elaborate, oftentimes unattainable regimens, we want to simplify self care as the radical act of putting yourself first. By finding small but meaningful ways to carve out time for yourself, you’re creating space in your day for a little luxury and decadence. We want to take the work out of it in order to make luxury accessible. To this end, the Sunday Edit is a weekly curation of blog posts, ideas, images and other forms of inspiration to help you have the best Self Care Sunday possible.

The main ethos at Motherpluckers is to provide personalized and custom care and services that enhance our guests’ natural beauty. It seems only natural that we continue this mission by challenging readers to reclaim their Sundays as a sacred space for rest and renewal.

We love pampering our guests and being part of their Me Time, and we’d hate for that feeling to end the minute they leave our salon. The best way to radiate natural beauty is to cultivate self love. And we want to help!

There is no one right way to indulge in self care; it’s simply anything that fills your cup, grounds you in the moment, and makes you feel refreshed. Much like our approach to beauty, the process is unique to each individual. It can be restful, like through meditation and relaxation. It can also be energizing and encourage self-improvement, like through learning something new. Whether it’s reading, hiking, journaling, or yes, a deep tissue massage, self care looks different for everyone. What they all have in common is that they should leave you feeling rejuvenated.

The older we get, there are more and more things that demand our attention throughout the day that make it difficult for us to actually dedicate time for ourselves. The Sunday Edit is here to remind you that taking care of yourself is not selfish. The new year is the time for fresh starts and setting goals; why not add self care to the top of that list? While it can absolutely feel indulgent, that doesn’t mean it’s not essential. We want to help you make self care a way of life by encouraging you to incorporate simple but effective rituals to your routine that make you feel cherished and cared for everyday. Because how you spend your days is how you spend your life.
