5 Signs It's Time for a Brow Refresh
When you’re looking at your face several times per day, every day, it may become hard to notice subtle changes that pop up. To prevent unruly brows from creeping up on you like some kind of jumpscare, here are some signs that it’s time for a brow refresh.
1. Going through more brow gel than usual
Brow gel seems like one the simpler steps in the makeup routine; swipe swipe here, swipe swipe there. Everything’s in place, good to go. But the longer your brows get, the more brow gel it takes to perfectly tame those wisps. And even the best brow taming product (like MP brow gel ;)) can only help so much. Then, if the hairs are long enough, this creates an effect kind of like a toupee; it’s all combed from the front and is collecting at the back in a long, disproportionate tail. So rather than piling on layers of product and going through your brow gel in a week when it usually lasts a month, we recommend getting to the root of the problem. If it’s not already obvious, the cure for overgrown brows is a trim. A trim by professional brow artists will make sure your brows are kept and manageable while maintaining your shape and not going too short. You can even throw in a wax to make sure your brow hairs are staying in their lane. Our brow gel is the best, but we suggest leaving major weed whacking to the professionals.
2. Your brows are getting closer and closer to holding hands
Everyone’s seen that scene in a romcom when the two love interests are sitting next to each other, perhaps watching a movie, and their hands slowly get closer to each other. It’s gradual, and starts with initial contact. Then a pinky finger makes the first bold venture across the other’s hand. And then all of a sudden, their fingers are intertwined and the lovers are holding hands. Well, just as subtly and almost imperceptibly, your eyebrows drift toward each other. One day they’re their own unique entities, and the next you wake up and they’re merging right above your nose. Of course tastes vary and change, and maybe you’re into the unibrow look. But if you went to bed with two eyebrows and woke up with only one, it might be a sign that you’re due for a brow threading or wax. These services are perfect for cleaning up stray hairs and making sure they stay where you like them. There is such a thing as healthy distance after all.
3. Noticing more inconsistencies (greys, sparse patches, etc)
Another sign that it’s time for a brow refresh could be the reappearance of some things you prefer to keep hidden could let you know it’s time to get Motherpluckers on the phone. Maybe it’s a few greys, a sparse patch, or a tiny scar where your arch should be. If you take steps to cover these things and suddenly find them resurfacing, you may want to consider an eyebrow tint or stain. A tint is good for adding colour to your brows hairs and making them consistent. A stain also adds pigment to your brows, but it also stains the skin of the brows to make them look fuller and more defined. If there are a few nicks and scuffs, it never hurts to slap a coat of paint on it.
4. They’re looking more drab and less snatched
Sometimes, when you’re between brow appointments, you may use tweezers to clean up a stray hair here and there. It’s simple enough; you know the shape of your eyebrows and can tell when a hair is out of place. Over time, however, a single hair here and there becomes another hair and then another. Before you know it, you’re lost in a forest of eyebrow hairs and you’re having a hard time finding your way back to your original shape. And the more you venture into uncharted territory, you may find your eyebrows look less and less snatched. If your brows are looking kind of drab and less defined, that can be a sign that it’s time for a brow shaping. Mapping your brows out helps with determining the optimal shape for your eyebrows to make your eyes pop and enhance your natural beauty. The cure for drab is a brow wax to get you back to snatched.

5. Your brows are falling flat and getting lost in the rest of your features
This one may sound counterintuitive, but walk with us. Sometimes you’re looking in the mirror and every element is perfectly copacetic. All of your features are coming together harmoniously… almost to the point of blandness. There’s nothing to grab attention, no visual interest. And everyone wants a little pizzazz. If this is happening to you, it could be a sign that your brows are falling a little flat and getting lost in your features. There’s an easy fix for this: a brow lamination. Perfect for adding some dimension and character to your face, a brow lamination adds eye-catching fluff and volume to your eyebrows. Brows that really pop are the cure for blah brows that melt into the rest of your face.
Consider this your ultimate brow PSA on how to spot the signs that it’s time to book an appointment with your favourite brow artist. The signs can be small, hard to spot, or rather ambiguous; hopefully we cleared up some of your pressing urgent questions.
See you next Sunday <3
